Past Lives Holiday Bizarre: A Sale of Art & Oddities
On Friday, Dec. 5, from 5-10 p.m., stop by our makerspace to browse one-of-a-kind gifts created by our makers, enjoy live art experiences, beer, wine, and fresh pastries, win raffle prizes, and bid in our silent auction. Admission is free, and it’s all part of S.E. Portland’s first Friday Art Walk!
Watch this page as we add items for sale/auction, event news, and shout-outs to our sponsors.
As Past Lives turns non-profit, community-based support means more than ever. So, we can’t thank our Holiday Bizarre sponsors enough for contributing awesome stuff for our silent auction!
Please consider giving them your business and come bid on some of their fantastic merch, art, food, and more on 12/5!
Meet Our Emcee, Darka Dusty!
From pop-stardom in Ukraine to working tirelessly to support Ukraine’s stand against the Russian invasion with dozens of fundraising events and performances, everything Darka Dusty does comes right from the heart.
At the Holiday Bizarre, she’ll keep the air electrified with artist introductions, auction item show & tell, and – yep — the random pirate sea shanty and mysterious minor key melody on accordion. Darka is a mainstay in Portland’s music scene, a consummate performer, and voted (by us and everybody) most likely to crack you up. When she takes the stage, magic is sure to follow.
Visit her photography biz website, Mirifoto, and check out her Instagram page for upcoming shows and events.
Celebrate with Nike’s Team BCU
A few proud and brave folks from Nike’s BCU shoe design division took Past Lives up on the Speed Mosaic Challenge — and they beat the clock with just :33 seconds to spare to reign supreme!
Divided into groups, the team took on the task of adding mosaic glass to four gigantic size 18 Nike® Air Force 1 shoes during their recent offsite here at the Makerspace, each creating its own unique and colorful design. And the final work will be unveiled at the Holiday Bizarre onstage at 7 p.m. Join us for the fun. High fives will be encouraged! (photo credit: mirifoto)
See 6-ft. Tall “Liberty Wept” in Person
When you join us on 12/5, you can get up close and personal with Past Lives metal artist Christine Rose’s latest contribution to our Gallery: a 6-foot-plus tall metal sculpture titled “Liberty Wept.”
Check out this article from the Portland Tribune, where they share the story of this unique, protest-based sculpture. We couldn’t be more excited for Christine, who started her journey in metal just a few mere months ago and since has created a jaw-dropping array of beautiful pieces, many of which will be available for purchase at the Holiday Bizarre event.
